THE BRIGHAM WINDOW / in the sanctuary
Our beautiful window located above the Skinner Organ was created by William Cole Brigham and given in honor of Samuel B. Nicoll.
The window exemplifies the unusual craftsmanship of this Shelter Island artist whose rich effects were achieved by the adroit use of natural shells, stones and chunks of broken glass.
It is somewhat ironic to note that stained glass was rarely used in Brigham's windows; yet a brilliant light emanates forth in rich magnificent colors conveying a forceful message that is both earthbound and heavenly.
